Things We Dig: [Lineaus Athletic Co.]

I’ve done my fair share of medicine ball cleans, thrusters and slams to last a lifetime but there’s something about these that feel a bit more refined and distinctive. I took one look at the ones from Lineausathletic.com and I was thinking, could I Crossfit with these doing medicine ball slams outside? The answer is yea—you most certainly can.

When you get over the fact that they’re handsome, they’re like the catcher’s mitt you got when you were younger. My dad taught me to oil my mitt after every session that I had [to help break in]—then, REALLY use it until I started to see a bloom on it—or a sort of white ashiness which meant it was time to condition it again. This helps to keep the tactile suppleness. I recommend starting with the 14″ 10lb ball and working up from there.

Here are some of the specs: [be sure to check the product info for care and warranty info]:

  • It’s double locked-stitched with 3 cords of polyester thread.
  • Dodecahedron (12 pentagonal face) construction.
  • 4-1/2 to 5 oz. full grain baseball glove cow hide.
  • Kapok and thread cores.
  • Price (shipping included): $475

Yea I know that the Dynamax are one third of the price, but these are custom made and hand stitched. What can I say?

Wall balls anyone…?
